Everything you need to know about Kickstart Your Marketing

How long is it since you wrote down ‘blog post’ on your task list? What is holding you back from writing about your business?

If either of those questions got you thinking, or possibly made you squirm a little, then my 3 month blogging programme Kickstart Your Marketing is for you. It guides you through starting a Business Resource Library you can make use of time and time again. If you’d like to know more about it then read on!

What’s a Business Resource Library?

It’s everything you write for your business. All your sales pages, blog posts, your About page, Homepage, and brochures. Anything you’ve written that helps your ideal clients answer a question, get to know you, or find out how you can serve them.

10 key components of your Business Resource Library are:

  1. Your website
  2. Your blog
  3. Emails
  4. Something you can give people in exchange for them coming on your email list
  5. Your LinkedIn profile
  6. Proposals
  7. Brochures
  8. Photos of yourself
  9. Visual frameworks
  10. A guest bio

Ok, how does it help you Kickstart Your Marketing?

By helping you to start writing with a tried and tested, step by step, fill in the blanks process. We’re focusing on the second key element of your library: your blog.

When you join Kickstart, I walk you through how to write 6 different types of articles. The first one is writing about a frequently asked question and you could write one of those every week if you wanted to!

You are introduced to a new article framework every two weeks so you don’t have decision overwhelm about which one to choose. All you do is follow the videos, or use the workbook, and write your responses to my prompts. Your first blog post will be drafted in 3 hours or less.

Then you send it to me and I read it over. I’ll let you know if I think there are things you could do to make it clearer for your reader. Then you’re ready to press publish.

I will give you feedback on your articles, and a deadline to write them so you get accountability. Behind the computer screens is a snapshot of 3 workbook covers: write an engaging case study, share your origin story, and sales page supporter.
What's inside Kickstart Your Marketing

How do I know I’m spending my time writing something useful?

When you join Kickstart you will have a Content Strategy call with me. This is 90 minutes. I’ll ask you to fill out a questionnaire beforehand asking you about you and your clients. Then we talk about your business and develop a plan to write articles which support what you’re selling.

This means you will know what to focus on and you’ll have a selection of blog post ideas to choose from. All you need to do is follow the process and voila! You will write articles which will be relevant and engaging for your ideal clients.

I never know how to write introductions

That’s ok. As part of the course material, you will get guidance on introductions and when I read your articles I can help you develop them.

Does this course cover SEO?

I will share some quick start tips to help you with SEO during the course. I’ll also share ways to get your articles seen by more people so you’re not solely reliant on people searching the internet.

This isn’t an SEO-focused course though. It’s a getting you out of the starting blocks with your writing programme. If you’re looking for SEO guidance, get in touch with me and I can recommend some people who will be able to help you.

You said the programme is 90 days, what can I expect to get done?

You will write 6 articles over the 90 days. That’s roughly one every two weeks. It will give you a firm foundation for your blog.

What if I don’t write every two weeks?

Ideally, you will! You can follow my process in 20 minutes a day, or do it in a 3 hour block. You can send me more than one article at once but please don’t leave them all until the end of the course.

Writing is a process and it improves with practice. By writing an article every two weeks you can take on board feedback and develop your style.

I struggle to find time to write

I get it. There’s a lot to juggle when you’ve got a business to run and of course, you’ve got your life outside it too.

If you want to know when you are going to write then I have two ways to help you:

  1. I run a ‘write along with Rachel’ group session once a month where I walk you through one of the blogging guides. The material is the same as in the course but we write together live.
  2. You can come along to the coworking sessions I run in Rachel’s Writing Club while you’re doing Kickstart. These run every week during UK term time.

When will I get your feedback on my articles?

I will read it as soon as I can. I endeavour to do feedback within 5 working days (sometimes life events happen). Send me your article as a Word document or a Google Doc and I will use track changes or the suggesting function to help you hone it.

Can I join at any time?

I’m running the next round of Kickstart from Monday September 18th.

I don’t have a website yet, is this for me?

You could come and do the course and publish your articles on Medium, Substack or LinkedIn. I always recommend writing on your own website though because you own it and no-one can suddenly close it down or change the rules.

How much does this programme cost?

Kickstart Your Business Resource Library is on early bird pricing of £897 until July 30. There is an option to pay in instalments.

This sounds great! How do I join?

Click through to the payment link and then you will get access to the course. You’ll see instructions on how to book your 1:1 call with me. I will add you to my email list and message you about what’s happening when, and deadlines. I’m looking forward to seeing what you write.
